Our commitment to giving back
ProfVal was founded in 2019 with the goal of making a difference. In fact, we donated most of what we made in our first year to a nonprofit organization, the United Way of Long Island. While our company has grown over the last five years, our purpose, which is to promote equality of opportunity, has gone unchanged.
Our giving goals almost always relate to childhood education, scholarships, or other activities that promote education or equality of opportunity. Nonprofit organizations and educational institutions can request funding via our funding request form.
The New American Dream and its alignment with our goals
The New American Dream Foundation (TNADF) is an immigrant-centric nonprofit that celebrates, honors, and supports immigrants and their families. The organization is based in Danbury, Connecticut, where our Founder (Zach Johnson, PhD) was born and raised. The ability to help people like those he grew up with led to an additional level of joy in supporting the foundation.
Our support helped to fund key activities that relate to our giving goals:
Scholarships for immigrants and their families: immigrants often do not qualify for financial aid due to their immigration status, so scholarships for immigrants can enable educational opportunities for talented young women and men who otherwise would not be able to attend college. TNADF has awarded over $77,000 in scholarships.
Outside of our core giving goals, TNADF also supports immigrants in key ways including:
Healthcare resources for uninsured or underinsured people: immigrants often are underinsured or uninsured, which can prevent them from accessing necessary healthcare resources. TNADF has funded over $100,000 in healthcare programs, predominantly for immigrants.
Civic engagement, help for domestic abuse survivors, and help for seniors: Immigrants can face issues with receiving public assistance and may be nervous about seeking assistance when faced with emergency situations, abuse, or other problems. TNADF supports over 650 families in a variety of situations.
Through these resources, TNADF helps immigrants through core challenges. Through this help, they contribute to equality and we are proud to support their great work.
On September 27th, 2024, the ProfVal team gathered to attend The 10th Annual American Dream Awards Gala (hosted by The New American Dream Foundation). ProfVal was recognized as one of 10 major sponsors of the association.
Attending the 10th Annual American Dream Awards Gala was an exciting opportunity for the entire ProfVal team. As a remote company, this was our first opportunity to gather in-person, which allowed us the chance to develop closer bonds as a team. Secondly, it provided us with an incredible opportunity to hear the inspiring stories of local immigrants, and to support equal access to higher education for immigrant students.

Small businesses like ours (or yours) can make a big difference
Small businesses, which make less than $20 million annually, are an essential part of philanthropic endeavors. Making up over 95% of businesses in the United States, small businesses are placed in a unique position to give back to communities in need. Indeed, small businesses donate 250% more than larger businesses to local nonprofits and community causes, which highlights their essential function in promoting societal welfare.
From long-term giving to one-off donations, philanthropy can take many forms. At ProfVal, we value the opportunity we have as a small business to give back to causes that align with our company’s mission to promote equality of educational and employment opportunities. Our success as a company is based upon delivering high-quality services to our clients and making educational investments in the local, national, and international communities that we and our clients represent. By donating financially, we can ensure quality education and, in turn, equality of opportunity for people of all races, genders, and social and economic backgrounds, creating a brighter future that uplifts future generations.
Ways We Give Back
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. One of the ways small businesses can orient themselves in order to give back to their communities is by supporting an aspect of these 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 4th, quality education, is a value that ProfVal strives toward in all of our endeavors, and was the driving force behind our contributions to The New American Dream Foundation.
Additionally, Pledge 1% is another way that ProfVal is able to give back. Pledge 1% ensures that companies are committed to giving back equity, time, products, or profit in at least one of the 17 SDG categories. ProfVal’s commitment to Pledge 1% includes the following actions:
We provide discounts to clients that are registered nonprofits, or to clients whose endeavor is for a nonprofit, religious, or educational organization.
We match qualifying donations to educational nonprofits made by our clients through our giving site: www.profval.org.
If ProfVal is sold, part of the company’s equity will be given to educational nonprofits.
With these contributions, we aim to provide equality of opportunity through both our work as a company and the areas in which we give, making a difference in education, health, and more.
