Who qualifies as a ProfVal expert?
Every expert ProfVal works with is based in the United States. Most are professors at accredited U.S. colleges or universities who hold terminal degrees, teach, have won awards, and produce valuable intellectual contributions.
Others are distinguished leaders in their field based on significant professional achievements.
Terminal degree holders
Most experts hold a PhD, MFA, MD, JD, or other terminal degree in their discipline from an accredited university.
Recognized achievements
Experts demonstrate extraordinary or exceptional ability through publications, awards, citations, presentations, or significant professional accomplishments.
U.S.-based, always
Every ProfVal expert is based in the United States — ensuring independence, credibility, and familiarity with U.S. standards and adjudication requirements.
Affiliated with ranked U.S. institutions
Professors are affiliated with accredited, ranked U.S. colleges and universities. Some are department chairs, associate deans, or deans.

Ethical commitment
Experts share ProfVal's commitment to honest, independent evaluation. They must have the freedom to decline any evaluation — without pressure to produce a predetermined outcome.
Why expert identities are kept confidential until the evaluation is produced:
An expert should never feel compelled to write an evaluation they don't agree with. By maintaining confidentiality until the evaluation is complete, experts can accept or decline based solely on the merits — without penalty. This benefits clients directly: a letter produced under these conditions is more authentic and more credible, because it reflects the expert's genuine assessment.
Before payment, you may request an anonymized summary of the expert's background: degree levels, areas of expertise, journals published in, and types of awards received.
ProfVal pays experts regardless of outcome. If an attorney is included on the order and an expert declines or provides a negative evaluation, a refund can be provided — except in cases of fraud or misrepresentation.
